Upon seeing the lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center (on TV), Aidan said, “That is beautiful, beautiful I tell you. From the bottom to the top.”

I put Aidan’s homemade smoothie in THE DAVINCI CODE mug this morning. She spotted Mona Lisa and said, “anytime I see this, it freaks me out.”

Later I told Aidan that I miss my grandparents today, and she said, “you can always remember them in your memories.”

After seeing a back-to-school ad on TV, Aidan said, “I want to go back to school wearing sexy clothes.” Obviously I was stunned. I asked, “what does that mean?” Aidan had a fast answer. “It means dressing like a girl who doesn’t care.”

While making a picture using highlighters, a colored pencil and Scotch tape, Aidan explained her approach to creating: “To make art, you just have fun. Then, when you’re done, it will be a masterpiece.”

Aidan sees a caricature of me done in 1997 and notices my brown beard. She says, “your beard wasn’t white like it is now…but I like it better white.”

First panic, then a performance: Aid started crying and clutching her chest in the bathtub. I scooped her out, held her tightly and took her to her mom. After Bonnie comforted her and had her calmly breathe, Aid sat down and said she could tell us exactly what happened, but invited us to ask her questions first. She was in press conference mode.

Aidan wanted me to ask her questions about God, and the conversation went something like this:

Aidan: Ask me anything.
Me: What does God look like?
Aidan: He looks like a giant, friendly human.
Me: What does he like to wear?
Aidan: A t-shirt, pants and Skechers.
Me: What does he like to eat?
Aidan: Green vegetables.
Me: If God ate a hamburger, what would be put on it?
Aidan: Mustard, ketchup and bacon.
Marc: French fries or tater tots?
Aidan: Tater tots.
Marc: If God had to watch one show for an entire year, what would it be?
Aidan (whispering): Dora, because he likes Dora.
Me: If God had to choose a bus, a car or a plane to take somewhere, which would he choose?
Aidan: Is he going to school?
Me: No, he’s going on a trip. Maybe a vacation.
Aidan: Then he would choose a plane because it’s easier.

Aidan comes out with her guitar and says, “you want me to play something for you?” I say, “Country.” She quickly replies, “well, this is a Rock guitar.”

At the playground today, Aidan and I enjoyed a pretend ride in a little train. When I suggested that we take the train to the North Pole to see Santa, Aidan quickly said, “Santa Claus doesn’t live at the North Pole.”

I was surprised. And curious. I had to ask.

“Where DOES Santa live?”

She didn’t hesitate with her reply.

“He lives in the sky in a town called Business.”

I laughed, of course, and later asked where she heard about Santa’s new residence. She said Alex the Lion said it. Apparently, in MERRY MADAGASCAR, Alex says “Santa’s back in business.”

Now it all makes sense.
